Writing songs as far back as she can remember, Becki never had the confidence to sing in public until she was persuaded to enter a local singing competition, which, to her amazement, she won.

In fact football had been Becki's other passion, to which she had dedicated much of her time.

Although a prolific writer Becki's dream of being a singer always took second place until winning the singing competition made her realise that she did indeed have 'a voice'.

After the competition Becki was asked to sing at various venues and functions and a string of 'cover' songs featuring Becki began appearing on the 'You Tube' site. But Becki's real dream was to develop her own material.

Spending some time in a recording studio, her prize for the competition, Becki worked on one of her songs, 'It's Only You', with producer Rob Billingham. However, due to personal circumstances Rob was unable to continue. Undeterred by this 'knock back' Becki, whose petite size and almost childlike appearance, belies a strong & gutsy girl, continued with her aspiration. A girl not afraid to knock on every door to make her dream happen. Becki took the decision to enter the 2012 UK X Factor and won her way to Boot Camp. Becki's dream suffered a setback when she went out at Second Stage of Boot Camp, when the acts are put into groups of 3 and given a song to perform together to the judges. Even this was not enough to deter Becki who picked herself back up and set about another approach.

Sometime previously a Cambridgeshire recording studio & record label had contacted Becki on a social networking site to 'Like' her music and wish her success. Becki decided to follow up on that contact – this led her to Perry Road Studios and Producer Greg Stephenson.

Becki was invited over to Perry Road and being honest came clean and explained that she had no money to fund her dream to record; she just wanted a chance to prove herself. Greg listened to Becki's story. The people at Perry Road liked this straight talking, quirky looking girl who's 'sing like nobody's listening' tattoo on her arm and tomboy appearance somehow seems at odds with her petite size and 'waiflike' cuteness.

Becki was asked to sing something she had written and although nervous, Greg could hear something in Becki's voice & offered her the chance to work together for a day and see what transpired.

Together they worked on lyrics and Greg started to build a song around Becki's vocals. By the end of the day they played the promo track to Perry Road Records A&R who were impressed. In fact so impressed they offered Becki - the break she needed - a recording deal. From that initial session Becki's dream started to become reality.
